Java celebrated its 24th year anniversary at the beginning of 2020 and this is regarded as the greatest milestone ever set in the world of computer science. But the HotJava browser was not as equivalently successful as Java. The first announcement regarding Java was made publically on May 23rd, 1995. However, Java was officially released on January 23rd, 1996 which now almost turning to 25 years in the programming field (a quarter of a century). There are various retrospectives on Java, however, we believe what would be fascinating to look at is that the success of Java in the upcoming years.
When you look back at the results over the last 20 years, Java has been consistently the most preferred programming language. According to TOIBE index, Java has jostled for higher ranking of most preferred and popular programming language with C, which was the most popular programming language before Java was launched. Java was awarded the "Programming Language of the Year" for 2015 for TOIBE which an excellent accomplishment, particularly because Java was also awarded the same 10 years ago.
